Our 2018 Camp Clinicians & Staff presented by    

Nick Buchert

Full-time NBA Official, Former KHSAA 8th Region Official. Nick worked 4 seasons in the NBA Development League (Playoffs/Finals & All-Star Games) before being hired full-time by the NBA in 2010. In 2014, Nick was selected to work the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities including the Rookie/Sophomore game, 3-Point Shootout & Slam Dunk Contest. In 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018, Nick has been a member of the NBA Playoff Officiating Staff as an Alternate Official.

Nick has been a Staff member since 3Star's 1st Camp in 2012.

During the offseason, Nick enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, & giving back to officiating.

Tom Eades

Former High School State Tournament Official, Now working NCAA Division I Men's Games in almost every power conference across the country. Tom has officiated the NCAA Division I Men's Championship Game and has refereed in 3 Final Fours including 2012 in New Orleans & 2016 in Houston. He has worked numerous conference tournaments during his illustrius career.

In the off season, he enjoys traveling with his wife & giving back to officiating.



Brad Maxey - Camp Director 

Former OHSAA Official, Current NCAA Women's Official in the Mid-American, Horizon, Ohio Valley, Missouri Valley, Conference USA, Atlantic Sun, Big East, & Great Lakes Valley Conferences among others. Brad has also officiated the NCAA Division II National Championship Game, the WNIT, the WBI, the NJCAA National Tournament Championship Game, the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, & the Horizon & A-10 Conference Tournaments among others.

Brad enjoys playing golf, working out, & spending time with his son Jackson.

Tim O'Hara  

2013 KHSAA Official of the Year, KHSAA Boys & Girls State Championship Official from the 9th Region.

Away from officiating, Tim enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, cheering on Notre Dame football, & giving back to officiating!

OFFICIATING MOTTO: "Take care of business -- on the floor and off."  


Jon Campbell

Campbell (Far Right)Former KHSAA 9th Region Official who now works men's college basketball in the Conference USA, Heartland, Ohio Valley, Atlantic Sun, Horizon, & Great Lakes Valley Conferences. He has worked numerous conference tournaments including the 2013 OVC Championship Game & the Postseason NIT. John is a former KHSAA State Championship Official.

OFFICIATING MOTTO: "Manage the game like a General but come across like a Private!"





Charlie Chappie    

KHSAA 9th Region Official who has officiated numerous boys & girls KHSAA Sweet 16s as well as 13 All-A State Tournaments.

In his spare time, Chappie enjoys golfing and time with his family.

OFFICIATING MOTTO: "Be prepared, work hard, know the rules!"

Edwin Young III

Former OHSAA Tournament Official who works men's college in the Big10, Big East, Mid-American, MAAC, CAA, MEAC, Patriot, Atlantic 10 & GLIAC Conferences as well as other collegiate conferences. He has worked postseason at the high school & collegiate levels. Edwin is also very involved with the training & continued development of officials in the area and is involved with many rules review/video sessions in the Cincinnati area with the Cincinnati Officials Academy.

A former basketball standout for the Dayton Flyers, Edwin is a State Farm Agent in Oakley. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Amber, and their children during the offseason as well as coordinating the FRIARS/3STAR Camp.

Missy Brooks







Adam Rider

KHSAA Basketball Official in 4th Region, Women's college official in the Mid-American, Conference USA, OVC, Missouri Valley, Great Lakes Valley, Summitt, Atlantic Sun, MidSouth, River States, SLIAC, SAA, TJCCAA, Heartland, & GRAC conferences among others. Adam has worked numerous postseason tournaments at the high school & collegiate levels including the PRE & Postseason WNIT.

Additionally, Adam works NCAA Softball in a number of DI, DII, D3, & NAIA Leagues. He has umpired the KHSAA State Softball Championships & also assigns volleyball for the KHSAA in the 4th Region. He also serves as an evaluator at the KHSAA State Volleyball Tournament.

Adam enjoys playing golf, working out, & spending time with his two sons during the offseason at their various sporting events. He also owns an AllState Insurance Agency in Bowling Green.

Bart Lenox

Former KHSAA State Tournament Official, now officiates men's basketball in the SEC, Atlantic Sun, OVC, GLVC, SAA, River States, GMAC & MidSouth Conferences among others. He has worked several conference and national tournaments as well. In 2015, he worked the NAIA National Championship Game. He has also worked the SEC Tournament, the 2016 CBI Finals & the NCAA DII National Championship Game in Frisco, TX. Bart is also involved in the training, recruitment & evaluation of officials for the BBA in Lexington & is Camp Director for the Southern States Officiating Clinic.

OFFICIATING MOTTO: "To be a successful official you must have 3 things: The ability to get plays right, Be an adequate communicator, & In good physical condition to run the floor."



James Pouncy







Tony Ramsey

KHSAA State Tournament Official from the Kentuckiana Officials Association. Tony also officiates women's college basketball in the Ohio Valley, Atlantic Sun, SWAC, River States & MidSouth Conferences. Tony also assigns numerous games in the Louisville area.

OFFICIATING MOTTO: "Today, I will do what others won't...So tomorrow, I can do what others can't!"


 John Boylan, Jr.



KHSAA State Tournament Official in the 6th/7th regions. Also works men's college basketball in the Ohio Valley, SAA, Heartland, GLVC, River States & MidSouth Conferences.

During the offseason, John enjoys giving back to officiating, going to camps as a camper, & hanging out with his son.

Alycia Dukes


A former KHSAA State Tournament Official ('07 & '08), 2008 Girls' McDonald's All-America Game Official, Current Division I Women's Official working in 10 DI conferences including the MAC, Summit, Horizon, Atlantic Sun, OVC, MEAC & Missouri Valley as well as the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

During the offseason, Alycia enjoys spending time with her sons & traveling to the beach.






Brian Sandlin


KHSAA 8th Region Official who has worked numerous All-A & KHSAA Sweet 16 Tournaments. Brian also officiates Men's College Basketball in the MidSouth & River States Conferences, where he has worked numerous conference tournament games. He has also worked the state finals as a KHSAA Football official.

Cody Ryan

9th Region Official, Men's Collegiate Official in the GMAC, River States, ORCC, RiverStates & MidSouth Conferences among other leagues. Cody has worked postseason at both levels. He is also past-president of the 9th Region Basketball Officials Association.

Michael Romes


Troy Winders 

NCAA Women's Official in SEC, Sun Belt, Atlantic10, Conference USA, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley, Atlantic Sun, GLVC, River States & MidSouth Conferences among others. Former KHSAA Sweet 16 Championship Official and has worked numerous NCAA Tournaments.

Troy is the KHSAA Assigning Secretary in the 4th Region.

Charlie Hust - Camp Liason

NCAA Women's Official in numerous Division I conferences including the SEC, Missouri Valley, Sun Belt, Atlantic Sun, Conference USA, Atlantic-10 and GLVC conferences among others. Former KHSAA Postseason Official (4th Region). Charlie has worked numerous conference championships & the NCAA Tournament as well as the WNIT & WBI.

Kyle Bottoms


3-Time KHSAA State Tournament Official representing the 12th Region. Has also worked the All-A State Tournament. Also works Men's college basketball in the Ohio Valley, GLVC, River States, SAA, CBOA, GMAC & MidSouth Conferences among others.

Mike Webster


KHSAA State Tournament Official from the Bluegrass Basketball Association. Mike has experience working the KHSAA Girl's State Championship game & the Men's DIII Sweet 16 Tournament. Also works in the GMAC, MidSouth, SAA, River States, CBOA & Hartland Conferences.

In the offseason, Mike enjoys cheering on his Cincinnati Reds & Cincinnati Bengals as well as playing golf.

Scott Bottoms


Former KHSAA Basketball Officials Assigning Secretary. Former KHSAA State Championship Official who also worked college basketball for 20+ years.

Away from the court, he enjoys traveling & working for State Farm Agent Rick Johnson in Crestview Hills, KY. Petey and his wife, Stephanie, have a son - Jude Hunter - born August 2015.
